My name is Yoichi Ishida (pronounced “yo-EE-chee ee-SHEE-da”). I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Ohio University. I work in history and philosophy of science, with a focus on biology. My philosophical and scientific articles have been published in Philosophy of Science, Studies in History and Philosophy of Biological and Biomedical Sciences, Synthese, BioEssays, Bone, and Journal of General Physiology. I hold a PhD in History and Philosophy of Science from the University of Pittsburgh, where my advisors were Sandra Mitchell and James Lennox. Before that, I studied philosophy at the University of Nevada, Reno, where Thomas Nickles was my advisor.
